Ladang Langit Farm was founded on February 2, 2020. By Dr. Surip Mawardi-a respected coffee breeder and former Starbucks agronomist-alongside his son, Nafan Satriaji. Established as a model coffee farm with support from the Starbucks Farmer Support Center. It has implemented Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for Arabica Coffee Cultivation.
Motivation by the imbalance in the coffee industry-where downstream activities thrive while upstream farming lags-Dr. Mawardi developed the farm as both a demonstration site and a training center for a coffee farmers.
Now functioning as a field school, the farm offers practicial learning in sustainable coffee production and hosts diverse Arabica varieties, including those from World Coffee Research trials. Ladang Langit Farm has become a leading example of sustainable, knowledge-based coffee farming in North Sumatera and Indonesia.
